Turbo fuel pump current draw 700

I decided to check my current draw while I had my meter out and it measured 9.5 Amps. The FAQ says it should be about 6.5 Amps. Does this include turbos too? I see there is a different part number between the turbos and non turbos. The prepump was 2.8 Amps.

Car runs fine. I'm just curious if the fuel pump and/or something else will need attenton s00n.

    Answering my own question 700

I reviewed the wiring diagram and discovered fuse 1, where I was checking draw, feeds much more that the main pump. It is also the source for the prepump, radio supression relay, fuel pump relay, AMM, fuel injectors and an input to the ECU. Subtracting out these other draws puts me under the 6.5 Amp limit.

So, fuse 11 is good for checking the prepump amps but fuse 1 includes much more than the main pump which must be subtracted.

You can test current draw (or just run the pump) by connecting your meter (or a jumper) between Fuse 1 output (terminal closest to you) and Fuse 11, the prepump fuse—with Fuse 11 removed.

      1) Connecting from Fuse 1 to the Fuse 11 input (closest terminal) leads directly to the main pump. This point is exactly where the fuel relay sends the voltage.

      2) Connecting from Fuse 1 to the Fuse 11 output (terminal farthest away) will run or test the tank pump.

With Fuse 11 installed, the connection in #1 above will run both pumps, just as the relay does.

I have a jumper made up that plugs into the lighter socket, with a flat male terminal on the end to fit either blade fuse terminal when the the fuse removed.

Turbo fuel pump current draw 700

NA and turbo spec is 6.5 amps, except Regina which is 8.8 amps. The prepumps in Bosch systems draw 3-4 amps (nonturbo), 5.5 amps turbo.
