Elect. gremlin: 1 highbeam flash = 2 ttailgate wiper swishes 760T 700 1988

Anyone experienced this one before? Flashing the highbeams to let a big truck come out into the hammer lane makes the rear wiper blade grind across the dry window twice. Or does anyone have recommendations as to which of the relays--remember that in my car the relay board is sideways near the passenger's left kneecap--might be involved? Any assistance or advice would be appreciated!

Thanks
Steve

Thanks to you both for your expert advice! The problem was solved after cleaning the ground connections on both sides. I had re-done the driver's side some time ago, so I am assuming that my trouble was on the right side. But I wish I had checked as I went along...

    Thanks again!

I could just hear my mechanic friend's voice ringing in my head as I read your description of the problem: "Start with the basics, dumbass!" Once again his wisdom prevails... Glad to hear you've won this round!

    Steve,

Check the bank of ground spade connectors on the inside of the front fenders. A bad headlight ground on the passneger side on my 87 745T caused the front wipers to run when I turned the headlights on. Cleaning the connections and a little dielectric grease fixed the problem.

First instinct is you've got a bad ground somewhere (presumably in or around the headlight hi/low beam relay) that's causing part of your headlight circuit to backfeed the rear wiper relay.
