Hello all. My recently aquired 1987 Volvo 240DL with 107,000 miles stalls a minute or so after starting up and at red lights and stop signs. I have changed spark plug wires & wire to coil. Also have changed rotor & distributor cap. What else could it be ? Maybe coil ? Maybe plugs ? As always any help & advice is much appreciated.

Clean throttle body, IAC valve, flame trap and all associated hoses and fittings. Then check and re-set (if needed) the base idle as described in Bentley. That solved my stalling problem in my 85 245. Dan

It controls the idle ... it is also called an Idle Speed Regulator or Idle Air Control solenoid valve .

It is located just below the intake manifold and looks like this ..

There is some info in the 700/900 FAQ IAC info
