Oil Pressure Warning Light, Lack of, 1993 940 T-Rex/R 900

The most obvious problem would be a burned out light. That is not the issue. I check the lamp and exchanged a few.

Plan of attack:
Check for voltage and ground at the lamp contacts on the circuit “film”.
Check the black wire going to the cluster for voltage. No this is the ground wire and it is normally open.*
(Lucid, I have a 1995 wiring diagram, not a 1993 and no R/R wiring diagram. It is black isn’t it?)

*This is insane; the oil pressure switch is normally open. I cannot figure out the light test circuit works. Any advice?

    Tom,

Yes, the wire to the OP sensor is black. But the sensor is normally closed (to ground) until opened by oil pressure. The light should come on if you take the wire off the sensor and ground it.

Light on with wire grounded would mean a bad sensor (if no light when connected to sensor).
No light means an open circuit between the grounded wire and the panel light.

If you need to trace the wire and connectors, let me know,

Having a ’93, a ’94 and a couple of ‘95s I should have bought a ’94 wiring diagram for a better coverage, 1994 was the last year for the Rex/Regina.

Sanity has temporarily returned. What you said makes sense because it takes a moment for oil pressure the light to go out after starting.

I’ll head to the sensor to check it next.

As far as the wiring I show instrument cluster connection C4, (SB) to C2 pin 16, (SB) to pin 2 at C51 to the oil pressure switch.

      Thanks for your help.
