update on 1988 240DL wagon 200 1988

Hello again,
Sorry about my first posting and the all caps thing. That was actually the first time I ever posted on a message board.

Here are a couple of things that I did to try to correct the problem I was having with a partially working instrument panel:

1. Charged the battery. It was only at 25% charge.
2. Replaced some fuses in the fusebox that looked bunk.
3. Removed the instrument panel and tightened everything that I could reach.

I still have the problem. It is very strange. I thought that when the spring would come the gauges would start working again, since it seemed that they liked to work when it was warm outside. When I was driving today that theory was disproved. Sometimes the alternator light comes on, sometimes it doesn't. My father installed a tachometer in the vehicle, and it usually reads 13.5 when going above 40 (I don't know the exact speed). Any more conclusions or information you can give me about this situation would be appreciated. Thank you all for your time.
