Door tag says Bendix, calipers are Girling 700

Just wondering if anyone else has run across this. Picked up a set of Bendix pads per the door tag code 3, but when I got down to it I found that I have the Girling front calipers. This is on my 87 745t.
Are the calipers interchangeable? Perhaps a previous owner changed them for some reason... or were some cars mislabeled? Rotors are 10.5 inch, seperate hubs.

A "soft spot" in the 740 is definately the brakes. The rotors warp and the calipers seize. Very likely, your brake system has been changed out. My 740 has Girling on one end and Bendix on the other. I think some came with ATE, as well. A recent ipd catalog has picture of each, so you can look to see which pad you need. (I never quite understood why the essentially trouble-free braking systems of the 240 went to crap in the 740's . . .).

I've heard the complaints of 740 brakes but I find them to be excellent. I'm giving you a relative (to crappy '84) Accord brakes and absolute (stops dang fast) evaluation.

As per "warping", yes I'll agree this is a PITA. My brakes were replaced by previous owner and now pulsate about 4K miles later. I don't know if it's from improper seating of pads etc but it's a damn nuisance. New bushings etc in front end too so it's not that causing problems.

I found the same on my 89 turbo. I don't know if they had problems with the bendix and replaced them under warrenty or the if the door tag was plain wrong.
