Scraping Front Mud Flaps S90-V90

Have a 96 960. When I go over high (tall...3 inches or so) speed bumps with mt two, two hundred pound sons riding with me, the front mud flaps scrape the speed bumps. The car rides fine; no indication that shocks or springs may be needed. Is this normal? I had the car checked out in Jan prior to purchasing (it had 70K at time of purchase) talked to the tech who'd serviced the car since it was new and told him to spare no expense in making sure the car was O.K. Also, how bad is brake squeal on these cars!

There's nothing inherent about brake squeal on our cars. It will depend on the pads and how they're installed, so read the FAQs as suggested and find another technician who knows what he's doing. Mud flaps will scrape with such a low clearance.

See this recent thread for some info about brake squeal, and what's done to correct it.

You're talking about that wrap-around (black on my car) that runs under the front bumper? I have 97 960 and have experienced the scrape. Not consistently though, even in cases where I am anticipating it. I've taken to gong slower. BTW, PO replaced that flap after pulling into snow bank and backing out (sans flap).

As for brake squeal, I have none to very little. Been a pleasant surprise. It's nothing compared to my Toyota Avalon.
