Thermostat valve location? 200

I have a 1983 240DL Canadian model with the carbureted B21A engine. There are two rubber hoses exiting the top of the carburetor and one is supposed to be connected via a T-fitting to a "thermostat valve". The hose is presently plugged and I suppose a P/O has disconnected the hose form the valve. I am not overly concerned since the car runs like a champ but I am curious about the location and / or purpose of this valve. Thanks.

SU or Zenith carb?

There are 2 tubes coming off my SU. The thinner one goes to the distributor. The fatter I think has something to do with crankcase ventilation. I forget where it heads (I'll have to check).

On newer carbed engines (post '80) there may be a warm start valve. But those tubes attach to the plastic intake that's attached to the carb.

The Haynes manual, available at Cdn tire $20, has a section 4B for carbed engines.

Trev, Thanks, I have the Haynes manual and it is where I obtained the information about the "Thermostat valve" Unfortunatelly in the diagram it doesn't show where the valve is located only that this is where it goes. Still curious.
