Found some wheels at Portland Swap meet 140-160 1971

Hello again,
Well I have been on the hunt for some nice wheels for my 145 for several years. Namely the volans off of a early 850 T-5R. Well this weekend I found a swet deal on some great wheels. They are called "silver Canisto" and they are 17x7.5" off of a 98-03 70 series. I have 225/40-17 to put on them and I am very excited. I got very lucky and found a chevy guy at the swap meet who just wanted to get rid of them and sold them to me for $100!!!! I have attached a picture and will send pics of them instaled as soon as its done.

Just had to share my happy story with all of you.

Wayne

PS. here is a great link for all volvo wheels: http://www.wheelcollision.com/volvo.htm

PSS OK so I don't know how to attach a pic but here is the link:

i am just curious. wouldn't the aspect ratio be a 50 series tire with the 17's? i was thinking of upgrading to 16's which put me at a 60 series tire. right? i have a 145 with the stock steel 15's...like i said i was just curious.

regards, jeff

It depends on the width of the tire... A reasonable size for 17"s would be either 205/50-17 or 225/45-17.

THAT IS AWESOME! Those wheels look great IMO on 140s... See here... =D They should be fine, but if your car is lowered, or your suspension get's compressed a lot somehow, you will get some rubbing in the front on the inner front fender. One of our locals, running the 850R wheels(17x7) said that on his lowered 140, when on the highway, sometimes they would rub and the car would act like you hit the brakes... 5mm spacers might help and make it look even better. WheelKing will sell you a set for cheap, or you could go with 3mm spacers... Anything more than that and you should use longer studs, well, even with the 5mm ones it's best to use longer studs, but you can get away with it if need be. Can't wait to see them installed!

What about the offset difference? Let us know if there is rubbing on the inside. What size tires? 140-160 1971

Hi Wayne,

Great looking wheels and congrats on the super price. I have taken the liberty of attaching a picture here to save everyone the time of copying and pasting the link. Looking forward to seeing the installation.
