    Suspension Bushing Advice 444-544

As you already know the bushings are threaded metal thingys on the top A-arms. These are the hardest to do correctly and I should know as I did them incorrectly. The outside of the bushings have shallow threads which bite into the A-arm. The trick is that the bushes don't like screwing into the A-arms and will want to bend the ends of the A-arm inwards as they are threaded onto the bushing "pin". To avoid this, a jig must be procured or created that will maintain the geometry of the A-arm during installation of the bushes. There is a picture of the factory jig in the green service manuals. If you do some searching you should find my ordeal as represented on the message board as well as advice given to others about to do the same thing. I beleive the other bushings are pretty straight forward and the kingpins are standard issue.

I hope this helps you avoid the problems I went through.
