Hello. The 1987 Volvo 240DL that I got last week has very light scratch on front windshield driver area. Wiper blade scrape. It is very light thin scratch. Replacing windshield would be about $250.00 which I do not have. Is there any polish I can use to buff this scratch out ? Or anything else that I could try ? As always many thanks for your advice & ideas.

P.S.- Next week I attempt dreaded blower fan replacement. Will let you all know how it goes.

I've polished glass scratches using the "Heavy Metal" brand metal polish we keep at work. (the liquid stuff, not the paste) It worked really well. All you really need to do is get the white texture of the scratch gone, once that's done, it's practically impossible to find even gouges in glass! Just keep in mind, polish it like you would metal, in straight lines rather than circles.

Yes, there is. But I haven't used it. You can get it from the Eastwood company. eastwood.com, I think. Perhaps you could contact a winshield place to see if they could fix it.

I've tried the Eastwood product and it works well. It's a time consuming process. The kit includes a buffing wheel which mounts in a drill plus a polishing compound. The test to see if it will work is to run your fingernail over the scratch. If the nail "catches" in the scratch, you can't completely remove the scratch. It may, however, greatly reduce it.

Driving into low sun is frightening, as windshield becomes opaque.

My glass is otherwise OK, no cracks or big scratches. Just pits. It's the pits.
