is 205X70X15 too big ? 140-160

I want to get some whitewalls for my 164 but the smallest size available in this country is a 205X70X15. Has anybody run a tire this big on a 164 ? Looks tight in the back.

My exact tire size! BF Goodrich Lifesaver, supposed to be mud and snow, blackwalls. They look HUGE, but don't rub anywhere. Using normal steel rims. I don't think the previous owner used a hammer to make them fit, but then again, the engine compartment - who knows!

I seriously doubt those are the smallest sized tires available in your country... Most cars don't use tires that tall... I'm assuming you're in australia?

Well, he is looking for whitewalls ... and their almost exclusive to higher profile tires, so perhaps. Anyways, it's going to depend on the wheel. When I had the Rigels (20mm offset) with 205/70/15, they rubbed on the outside of the rear wheel on bigger dips. 25mm offset would have worked fine.

      Diameter wise, no prob.

    Depends on the brand.
I run 205-75/15 tars on my 164 and my 122 wagon both, but I have found
195s that are bigger than the 205s I am using. Although these numbers are
supposed to be a standard there seems to be some range in sizes.
I would avoid tires that say things like "Desert Dueler" etc on them.

I did have to do a few seconds' hammer work on the lower front inside of
each rear fender on the 164. Doesn't show.
