Not clear what you all are discussing here. Are these DJ's replacements for the US plastic lights, or are they copies of the original glass with H4 bulbs which were on European 240's?
And what kind of price are we talking for these DJ's?

They are copies of the headlights that were on European 240s from 1981-93, which are the same as US 86-93 (the headlights anyways). So yes, they do use an H4 bulb. They also need to use the Euro corner lamps as well as the chrome pieces on top. US chrome pieces can be used if you don't mind attaching them with double sticky tape.
From everything I hear, I would rather buy a good used set of Cibie made headlights than new Scantech ones.

Nuff said.
Be sure and get the E Code chrome eyebrows when you buy them 'cause they ain;t cheap from Volvo.

Don't go with Scantech for sure!!! I've got a set made by DJ Auto and they certainly are of quality. Lighting is incredible, and everything lined up perfectly with zero snags. Reflectors look great and the beam pattern is perfect. I'm very pleased with the set I got shipped new from The Netherlands. I assume though someone else's set could be lousy though and/or an OEM set is even better. Oh yeah, the turn signals are OEM Volvo and installed without any problems.

Same darn things, when I got mine the Scamtech boxes had DJ headlights in them. That being said, one of mine had a screw that broke as soon as I tried to adjust it, the replacement has been in for several years and all has been well. The quality is not up to the specs of the Cibie lights I feel they are worth the money given the alternative of using another set of plastic lights.
I have a couple of sets of Genuine Volvo lights on the shelf, haven't had time to switch them out to see if the beam pattern is any better. If I can get to it next weekend I'll post results.

BTW, Dave.. where'd you get the replacement headlight adjuster bits?

I sent the headlight back to Alleuro for a warantee replacement. I noticed later they no longer stocked them so I guess I wasn't the only one. IPD also stopped selling them, they said it was due to lack of interest. The bits and pieces are replaceable however, standard Volvo parts available in Europe will work.

Indeed. However the cost of European sourced parts is prohibitive. I lucked out with my stateside distributor (caught them just as the e-codes arrived). However in trying to source the amber/clear corners, I've been disappointed with the prices (~50% more expensive). It's the difference between a 65EUR set of corners and a 120EUR set of corners. For instance, the proper connectors and terminals for the 760 lamps run at least 10EUR. Gah.

BTW, ScanTech repackages the DJ Auto lamps. At least they did with the 760 e-codes I just bought.
The ST branded turn signals, OTOH, looked to be of very poor quality.

Zero snags, eh? Didn't you have the wrong bulbs or something at first? ;-)
Anyways, where did you get your DJ auto ones from? And did they supply the OEM turn signals, too?
Thanks,
Greg

Greg, hahahaha oh yeah...that was my stupidity for getting the wrong bulbs!!! I got them from a guy from The Netherlands who at the time was selling complete sets on eBay. We did an "off-line" transaction and he included the chrome assemblies and Volvo turn signals with bulbs :) Ferenc was his name I believe. I can look for his email address when I get back to Boston tomorrow (at the 'rents place right now).
Best,
Adam

There have been some real quality issues with the aftermarket e-codes, everything from adjuster screws that strip out the first time you turn them, to clips that break and allow the lenses to fall off. Light quality on some of them is no better than the US-spec lights.
