Sunroof stuck open ( will not close!!!!!) HELP PLEASE! 900 1991

i have a 940 se and the sunroof will not close. it is stuck in the open position. I tried to pull it forward but it won't go. It will come forward just a little bit when I pull it, but that's it.

When it come forward a little I can then, make it go back, but IT WILL NOT come forward so I can close it.

I don't have the volvo kit or the sunroof kit, so how can I close it.

any advice would be very, very helpful
because it's raining here in Arkansas.

    First, check the fuse for the power sunroof motor. Don't remember which one it is, but it will be listed in the fuse panel cover.

    Next, try the rocker switch on the dash 100 times. The switches tend to be a significant failure item for these. The switch has a relay in it and is more complicated than it seems.

    New switches are available from Volvo, and they plug right in. The dealers I dealt with kept them in stock, which tells me that it's a common enough failure item.

      I'm in the same boat with my 960 - were you serious about trying the rocker 100 times (I probably quit at 97!). You said a new switch just plugs in but how does the old one come out? Thanks.

    Pry off the cover carefully just in front of the sunroof. You will find a screw with a slot for a screwdriver. This will allow you to manually close the sunroof. I had to do this on my 92 960 when the sunroof stuck open. This method is slow but works. So far I have been lucky with both of my 940SE's, the sunroofs still work. Check FAQ section for possible remedies to fix the sunroof. Once I got it closed on the 960 I left it alone.

      BTW, the cover to which Jerry refers is the motor cover on the headliner, inside the car between the sunroof and the windshield.
