Vacuum Hose Quality 700 1989

What is the quality of the vacuum hose from FCP Groton? I've noticed it specs to id 4mm and 6mm, as it should; however, it looks more like fuel hose? Rubber with some kind of cloth covering.

Any experience/opinions on utilizing this hose versus the Volvo OEM vacuum hose?

Thanks!

I don't think they had quite the exact same sizes as volvo, although they are metric 4mm instead of 4.2 .

You can get the metric hoses from borton volvo for about $12 per meter.

Thanks. I went ahead and checked the inner diameter on OEM (stamped 4.2) hose and interestingly enough, it's not actually 4.2mm, as I had thought. It measures about 3.2mm. Then I rechecked FCP's hose and it measures about 4.4mm. In addition, the outer measurement for OEM is about 8.6mm and for FCP is about 9.5mm. Then I tried compressing the hose and the FCP compresses somewhat easily between two fingers, whereas the OEM is very hard to compress.

I'm going to go with the OEM.

You can get a very good quality (better than OEM) silicone vacuum hose at Napa. It's sort of a brownish color, and is pre-packaged. It cost about $7 or $8 for a 10 foot length, and comes in three sizes.

I'll never use rubber vacuum hose again -- and I'll never have to replace another vacuum hose on one of my cars (Because this stuff will last forever!).
