fially got the 4-speed O.D in my 89 240,i took the overdrive harness out of the donor car,but i do not get power down to the overdrive unit on the transmission....what is the red wire coming up from down there?the yellow i see goes to the o.d. unit, i have power coming in via the small blue wire to the pulse button on the gear shift but nothing goes to the transmission,,, are the two black wires grounds?i changed the relay...have the blue wire hooked to # 11 on the fues box...the o.d. unit works with 12 volts supplied independently ..any clues ?what am i not seeing?...thanks in advance...kris

RELAY:
15-double blue, one wire from fuse, the other to the shifter switch
86-brown, from shifter switch
87-yellow, relay out to solenoid
85-red, relay to 4th gear switch on tranny for relay coil ground
(yellow & red go thru BLUE connector, then to 4th gear switch and solenoid)
(brown & one blue go thru BLACK connector to shifter switch)

SWITCH:
blue from relay 15
brown to relay 86

SOLENOID:
yellow from relay 87

4th GEAR SWITCH:
red from relay 85

'93 940-NA (current) — 240s (one V8) — 140s — 122s — since '63.

a couple of additional bits: the relay plug and harness has two yellows coming from the #87 terminal; Bruce has described where the larger goes (OD solenoid) and the thinner one goes - at least on our 81 & 83 - to the "OD" light in the cluster via the large cluster plug with many other wires.

On both our cars the brown and blue from the gear knob switch go into a connector under the carpet on the right side of the trans tunnel. Out of that connector they emerge as black and blue going up to the relay plug. So you may not see a brown at the relay.
