More info needed: if just the cluster lights are out, try unplugging/replugging the connectors. If all (centre console too) lights are out - probably the instrument dimmer. Power into the dimmer is the Grey or White wire which comes from the main light sw. via Fuse No 16 (check that too). Voltage to the instrument and control lights comes out of the dimmer rheostat on the Red/White wire. If shorting these two together brings back your lights, replace the dimmer sw.

I think maybe you've fried your dimmer rheostat, try jumping that (take the rheo out of the circuit).

The dimmer rheostat ("pot") also controls the brightness of the center-console lights - primarily the heating/cooling controls, as well as the shift lever indicator on the shifter if auto trans.

If all these are out, most likely it's the dimmer. If only the instrument cluster is out, then the dimmer is OK, the cluster is not getting the current.

I had the same thing happen to mine and I found that when I disconnected the U shaped electrical connector on the back of the dash that it loosened the little metal sockets in that connector. I then took a small jewelers screwdriver (the smallest on in my set) and I carefully tightened up each one of them by bending the socket to the smallest size. This did the trick for me. Good Luck!
