more knock sensor questions 200 1986

I located the knock sensor on my 240 and jiggled the wire to see if this had any effect on function. I noticed that the male end of the spade connector on the knock sensor was able to freely spin around on it's mount. Is this normal? can someone with a known functioning sensor please tell me if this is how theirs is. I don't wanna buy a new one without knowing for sure that this one is shot. thanks

Found exactly the same situation on my 86 240 recently. It's a cold solder joint. Pretty much the same deal as the fuel pump relay issue that's quite well known around here.

I removed mine, resoldered it, and reinstalled it. I would avoid heating it longer than is necessary, although I'm not sure about how sensitive it is to this.

Believe it or not, I wasn't aware of any specific symptoms from it. For all I know, it may still not be doing anything (ie. the sensor itself is also broken). I just figured that if it's loose, it can't make it any worse to solder it, and it may just fix your issue.
