Update on the 145... :-P 140-160

Kyle,

Well, it's a long story, but Kaci is being entirely apathetic about
selling this car, and a neighbor wants to tow it, and the landlady at her
place wants to tow it. So she basically just doesn't care about it.
Cutting to the chase, it will be towed within a week if not sooner. If you
want it, come up and get it. Pay whatever you want. I won't be able to get
you a title because Kaci won't bother to do the legwork - I'm exasperated
as all hell, mostly because I've been working my ass off to sell it for
her and she's not helping at all. Basically, I'm pissed. So come ASAP and
bring your carbs and just get it out of there. Call me if you have any
questions. I'll be free pretty much anytime after 2pm on weekdays. I'll
get the keys from Kaci when I hear back from you.

And at least I'll be done with the damn thing . . . a good turn of events
for you, if you can get it before it goes . . .

So, I'm thinking $10 to the girl, and $40 to the guy. No title, but a complete running car for that much. Whatever. Without the title, depending on how it handles the drive down to portland/corvallis, I'll think about getting a title for it. Not for quite a few months at the earliest though because money talks. And I don't have any.

Update on the 145... :-P Part. 2 140-160

I called him earlier today and asked him to pick up a regulator to see if that'll stop the overflowing and make it driveable... Lo and behold:

Kyle,

Well, the regulator worked pretty well, and the car ran without overflowing the float bowls. We drove it
to another street so it won't be towed. It started strong but those HS6s are in desperate need of some
tuning, so I'd suggest bringing yours up. There is a lot of backfiring from the rear carb. Anyways, Kaci
finally showed some initiative and started doing legwork on the title, so I may be able to get you that
too. If we do, we can work out the price when you show up.

BTW, the regulator was $26 and reads in apx. PSI - car seems to be doing well at 3psi, and struggled a
bit at 2.5. Anyways, tuned carbs will make all the difference.

I still kinda want to drive it with the HS6s on it so I don't have to go through the hassle... We'll see.

Update on the 145... :-P 140-160

The lost title fee on my 83 turbo was $50 when I bought it. Not bad, but the guy was supposed to find the title. Got a good deal on it anyway though.

Hmmm, $50 aye? I think it's a bit more spendy here, but if it's not, SWEET! What state are you living in?

And about the car, if you've been following along, you know that the carbs overflow with fuel... I'm planning on just bringing up my carbs, not messing with going out and buying a regulator, but just sticking on my HIF6s(won't forget to bring linkage components)... Any problems associated with this? I'm also planning on bringing my car's battery and jumper cables... And a spare tire. Other than that, I'll just be bringing my tools and a spare fuel pump...

Any other suggestions? I don't really have much else, but maybe there's something else I should pull off of my 142 for slapping on the 145 for the hopefully uneventful drive down?

Update on the 145... :-P 140-160

Just checked the dmv site, and it's $110 for a replacement title with transfer to you. My ordeal cost $138, two trips in to the dmv, and a bunch of my time for research,to be exact. =) Good luck on gettin' her down. Let me know if you might need anything.

Hey, I'm also in Oregon. It looks like there is a lot of us Bricksters here!!! As for the title, you might want to check with the DMV, but I believe that is all I payed. I actually ended paying a bunch of other fees when I bought the turbo, tags and title transfer too, so I might have been slightly off, so it might have been up to $75, but it dosn't really seem like it was that high. It sounds like you have a good basis on what to bring. I would also bring a couple of courts of oil, and maybe an extra set of sparkplugs. I'm going to let someone with a little more experience chime in about the carb thing, but it sounds like you got it under control.
Good luck and happy bricking.

You're in Oregon you say? Well, I invite you to check out our website! Oregon Volvo Tuners Join up in the forums, and contact Nick if you want to become a member. Currently we don't have any membership fees, and everything is real loose right now, but we're working on it. And yeah, I'll bring along some plugs, and the oil in the car is cleaner than the oil in my 142! So I don't know what the deal is there, we'll find out when I drive it down though. The engine looked very clean inside compared to my 142's junkyard engine, and the oil, was clean... Maybe it was just changed, who knows. But yeah, I'll be bringing some of that along as well. Thanks!

Hey, thanks, KLR142 for the invite, I just looked at the OVT website, and its pretty cool. I will be joining that as soon as I get my finals done! I would get my stuff done a lot faster if I was not constantly distracting my self with Volvo stuff on the net. Oh, well, keeps my mind going to the early hours of the morning. Are you going to the IPD Sale in May this year? I think that will have to cruse up there from Eugene. What city are you in?
Thanks and happy bricking.

Update on the 145... :-P 140-160

I'm currently in Corvallis. I just withdrew from OSU though, mainly because I don't have the motivation currently to go through with Mechanical Engineering, and then also because of all this Volvo stuff that I've gotten myself into... :-\

Yeah, naughty me, I know. But I'm not going to stay in school if I can't focus on it like I need to. Not that I've EVER been able to focus on school like I need to... So yeah, I'm in corvallis until either the beginning of summer or partially into the summer, but I'm up in Portland as well a LOT... Not that I can afford it without a job quite yet, but I do it anyways. My 4spd 142 gets about 21.5mpg on the highway the way I drive it. (read, 65-85 all up I5 and 217 and 26... heavy foot of course too most of the time)

I'll definitely be at the IPD meet this year. Maybe we can cruise up together or something. There will be a few other OVT'ers coming up from around here as well, so maybe we'll have a nice big convoy or something. We'll see. Later man!

The oil in an engine that has sat for a very long time can have all the masty stuff percipitate out, leaving clean oil behind. Once you drive it a little and splash the oil around in the engine it will pick up most of the gunk again. Of course, if you changed the old oil the new oil would do the same thing, so there's not much to be gained from it. It might be worthwhile getting a cheap Fram oil filter and tossing that on the motor before the trip, but I say the fewer things you mess with the better off you are - at least in the scope of just getting it home.

Mmm, good point... I wonder if that's the case. Probably is, but it'd be cool if it wasn't! I'll bring along a filter as well to toss on there I guess. And then some oil to top it off, and I better remember to bring something to catch the oil when I change filters. Or maybe I'll just leave it as it is to avoid the mess... Lol, it can't hurt it too much!

Hm... well, the price is definitely getting to be right... The lack of title is a bit of a bummer, but if nothing else, you'll have a lot of spare parts.

As for the title... if you do want to sort it out, check out broadway title. I've known a few folks that have used 'em with success. Won't allow it in some states though. Not sure about where you're at.

Hope you can get 'er in time!

I can't seem to find the beginning of this thread. If the 145 is still available would you tell me where it is?
