Broke Brake Caliper Bleeder Screw 200 1989

I was bleeding my brakes today. The left front brake caliper's outer bleeder screw sheared off when I was tightening it. It appears that I was able to tighten the screw enough to prevent air from getting in there. Is there a way to remove the rest of the rest of that screw without having to replace the caliper? Thanks in advance.

Given that it sheared while you were tightening it, you might be able to remove the remains easily using a screw extractor or Eazi-out. Had you sheared it while loosening, you would be stuck buying a new caliper.

Soak in Kroil or PB Blaster. Drill a 3/16ths hole in center and then tap in a screw extractor (go to a decent machine tool place), a good alloy unit made to be used on high strength mach9ne tool steel will last, not strip and fits a tap handle (square shank).

The Sear Roebuck drill out thing is ok if you have a very good hand and plenty of time. I'd let the Kroil/PB soak in for a few hours and spray again and it should work.

Chase the thread witha tap to clear the cause of the jam (rust)and bleed again with nipple off to get and residual crud then install the new one (w/ anti siexe) and have a brewski. Can be done at the curb or in the driveway easily (the repair not the brewski).

i've done a brewski on my curb and driveway easily.

haven't had to extract a sheared nut, though.

        keep 'em cold.
