240 wagon black exterior accent tape 200 1988

I am going to buff out my paint soon to see if I can restore some life into it. I would also like to replace or refinish the black accent tape that runs along the tops of all four doors. The original tape is starting to bubble up in some places and crack in others.

Does anyone have any suggestions for doing this? I'm guessing that I can buff the cracked and bubbled areas smooth so that I can place new tape over it. But where can I find replacement tape?

Thanks!
Drew

I've used the SEM matte black spray paint. I sprayed my windshield wipers which gets the most abuse for black painted surfaces, and there is no fading so far after about 10k miles and 6 months of driving. Really good stuff.

SEM brand #39143 TRIM BLACK coating, about $9-11 locally, 15 oz. One can should take care of your wiper blades and trim for a long time.

Some more stuff, while you're at your local auto paint store, you can get some Underseal Rubberized Undercoating, black, 3M p/n 08883.

Yes, painting is the only way to go...if you prep it and apply several coats, it will look BETTER than new!
    Tks,
    Chris

another vote for painting... it's been done on my car and looks great. Flat or satin black, but not gloss.

The tape runs about $100 per side (3 pieces each side) so its $200 for the whole deal. A bit high IMHO...may volvo parts sites have it.

You can do the following: clean off the old tape with solvent and a scraper and buff with steel wool and mask and repaint with SEM Matte Black aerosol 2 coats and it will look as new...

Or go to the stripeman site or anytand get plack striping tape ($75 a roll in 3 in width) and layout and cut your own stripes.
