S90 power antenna S90-V90

The power antenna was replaced before I bought my S90.
It is raked back at a very aerodynamic angle similar to a late 50s Cadillac.
I prefer the looks of a more vertical antenna.
Looking inside trunk lining reveals no unusual cobbling, and it looks stock.
Qustion is: Is this the normal angle or is something messed up.

    Pull the side gray carpet board out of the trunk on the driver's side and you will see what the problem is. It should be obvious at that point. The antenna should go straight up and down.

      Yes, I have been in there with the whole panel out of the car while snaking a wire in for trailer light wiring. The antenna seems to be bolted to the bracket at the front of the left side "storage well". Nothing looks amiss or cobbled up.
      The length of the tube in the trunk seems to be the critical factor.
      If I get a new one from E-bay it might be the same length.
      Perhaps I should look for a shorter(?)240/740 antenna and make a new bracket.
      What do you think?

        It sounds like someone may have replaced the the original antenna assembly with one from another vehicle perhaps. I can't imagine it going up at that much of an angle unless the bottom of the unit was bolted to the wrong place or it's the wrong unit.

    Nope, something is wrong. On my 1998 S90 the antenna goes straight up. I beleive that on all sedans with power antenna (at the trunk) they go straight up too.

    I just saw aftermarket power antennas on eBay for S90's for $29.95! Just a thought.

      REsult of investigation:
      The bracket at the bottom of the antenna is stock and controls the angle.
      In addition the plastic piece with the hex nut that is on top of the fender is contoured for the antenna to slope backward. So the sloped antenna on my car is stock.
      Solution is to remove the L shaped bracket holding the bottom of the antenna and redrill and reshape the bracket. Also need to get the top piece on top of the fender from a 2/7 series car.
      I am beginning to wonder if they assembled the last S90 models from whatever was available that day.

      I looked at the e-bay antenna(s) and they appear to be very short.
      Mine seems to be quite long, longer than the one I put in my 240.
      Further investigation is in order. I can get one from local junkyard if necessary and I can make an adapter bracket. Just waiting for a warm weekend to do this.
