SO DID I GET RIPPED OFF ON RAD REPAIR? 700

I was told it will be a Nissen brand, but after looking at it I don't see any brand name stamped anywhere on the radiator. it's all black, looks like it was painted black. I also got new upper and lower rad hoses, a thermostat, and fresh coolant for a little under $500! Yes, I know that's a lot, but what irks me is I wonder if I got a cheapo radiator instead of a Nissen all metal, as I was told. This was done at a Volvo indie, btw. So, How can I tell if I got a Nissen brand? Thanks.

Nissens are usually labeled as such on the top. If it's the all-metal, it also has two thin metal bars on each face (about 1/3 and 2/3), running from the top to bottom.

my plastic and aluminium Nissens rad has a label sticker on top on the silvery top.
my all black metal Nissens rad Does NOT have any sticker or stamp .One thing that you can tell whether it's a Nissens or not is that the black paint WILL peel off in a few months. That is a Nissens of late.

Yeah... paint doesn't stick well to zinc plating (galvanizing).

In that case I'm a bit miffed for being lied to and ripped because I don't see NISSEN stamped on top of the radiator. almost $500 and all I got was a cheapo? I'm pissed! unless someone tell me otherwise. it's black and all metal. I don't see any manufact. name stamped on the radiator at all. I did get mackey hoses, is that a good brand volvo hose?

I stock Nissen radiators, and come to think of it, I haven't seen anything on them of late, nor was it "ever" stamped in to my knowledge. They had a silver sticker that always came off and took some of the black paint with it. Also, since the front fans are so blasted picky on the later 940's and 960's, I haven't been getting all metal ones from Nissen for these, and they are silver on top (no paint) and I still don't recall anything stamped in them.

Further, no all metal radiator is really a cheapo that I am aware of, CSF comes with a lifetime warranty...gotta love that (when I am in a bind I get them locally), and Flex has been substituted by my supplier a few times when they are out of the Nissens...and quite honestly...they seem to be a bit sturdier even. Coolant hoses...MacKay...they are the ones we stock also, except for the heater hoses, and I usually get Volvo oem for those...they seem to be made of tougher stuff.

i have seen alot of nissens at the boneyards. there is a sticker on top of most i have seen. they look like aluminum on top and i think black on the sides. check out some websites for pictures. next time ask for help here before the repair. thats what i do. i believe the nissens top line are over 200.00$ maybe more. plus hoses, plus one or two hours labor? the price is seems high. this is a pretty easy job for most. people here can probably guide you through stuff like this. i suggest buy the bentleys manual (f.c.p. groton) and get on the road to saving money. i guess i could do this job in about one hour. good luck
