K-jet fuel distributor 200 1981

I finally got around to installing the IPD flame trap relocation kit on the '81 245 yesterday. Not surprisingly, I found that the hose from the bottom of the fuel distributor to the flame trap was hard as rock. What I couldn't figure out was how to replace it -- the hose swivels at the fuel distributor, but didn't want to come off. Is there some kind of clamp buried in the internals? I managed to jam the new flame trap into the end of the shortened hose a bit, but since the rubber is so hard, I'm not very confident that it will stay there! So now what do I do?

Also, I'm hoping this is a non-issue, but in cleaning the constant idle valve, I found that the electical connector end is not terribly well sealed to the housing (by closing the outlet and blowing into the inlet, air goes out through the connector end). Is that slight gap likely to cause a vacuum problem? The idle is probably acceptable, but not as smooth as one might like.

the hose you are referring to is a press fit just grab and yank, you may have to take needle nose pliers and or a flathead scewdriver.i would suggest getting replacement part before destroying old one, also if air is coming out of elec.con at idle control valve its bad!good luck

I think I know the hose you mean. It comes off of the front of the air sensor bowl below the rubber bellows? I ended up splicing a hose to mine when I re-routed the flame trap. I was told that it's a push in fit. Apparently the hose gets grabbed by some barbs in the hole which would make it a tough job getting it out, but a relatively easy job pushing the new hose in. I need to redo mine to fix it right, so I'll be interested to see what you learn about how to remove the old hose.

I think what you're calling the Fuel Distributo is really the Air Flow Sensor, with the flame trap hose going up thru the hole in the bowl-shaped bottom? The FD is the black lump mounted on top of the Air Flow, with all the fuel lines.

II haven't seen that setup in years, so I cant tell you what holds that hose in there. But you might try a new post, with something about the hose and/or Flame Trap in the Subject line. That might get more responses than "Fuel Distributor".
