Hi,
If I replace the right control arm do I need to replace any bolts or screws? My Bentley says to replace any self locking screws but I'm not sure what they are.

The IPD front bushing kit doesn't have any bolts as far as I can tell.

    There are self-locking nuts for the ball joint (3, one on a bolt and two for a two-stud plate at the outboard location). You can replace them if you want to- I've always reused them and not hard a problem.

    If I were you, I'd buy a sway bar end link along with the control arm- it seems like these always snap off when you go to remove the nut. Get the bushings for it too, along with the large rear-of-the-front-control-arm-bushing.

    Expect to need an alignment after replacing this.

      Thanks, I'll see if I can't get the screws as well. I've ordered bushings front and rear for both control arms. I don't think they've ever been changed.
      Would it be a good idea to change the ball joints (is it difficult) now that I'm at it?

        Personally I would change the ball joints and outer tie rod ends now before you get the alignment. Ball joints are very easy.. four bolts to the bottom of the strut tube and out they come (on later models). Then you just place the holder in a vise & remove the ball joint nut & reassemble.

          Good. I've already oredered the ball joints. Are the outer tie rod ends easy?

            Yes they are easy ... and since you are getting an alignment after installing, you only need to make an approximation as to their adjustment. I count the revolutions to loosen and tighten the same amount. the alignment tech always says how far out they were, but when I see the printout, I know how close i really was.
