strange wobble in 94 960 sedan 900

when accelerating the steering wheel has a wobble.the faster you go it picks up tempo but not intensity. someone told me that it could be a warped rotor.the only thing shaking is the steering wheel and not the whole car. what could it be ??????

Good news! We replaced the tires this afternoon and the wobble is 100% gone. I've driven more than I should have in other cars on worn tires and have never felt any vibration up the steering column from doing so - I am sooooooo relieved it was as simple as new tires, but that would have been my absolute last guess as to the source of the vibration.

    Thanks everyone!

Other possible causes, hit a pot hole and bent a wheel/damaged a tire, snow/ice clinging to the wheel causing to be out of balance. One usually notices warped rotors when appling the brakes, I guess it could be rust build up on the hub surface that contacts the wheel. Are the wheel lugs torqued to spec? Swap the tires from the front to the rear on one side at a time until you isolate the problem wheel location.

It very well could be the balance of your tires. I would have that checked first. The rotors being warped would not show up unless you are appling brakes.
    Good Luck
