hey Ya'll

I have a 87, 240 dl wagon with auto matic transmission. The Overdrive solenoid has been bypassed, and has been for 8 months. Recently Ive been getting a rough shift into second gear. The fluid levels look ok, so Im wondering if theres a filter I can check. What else could it be? any help appreciated.

Theres a check ball in the valve body that wears out. Happened to a friends 760 w/ a AW71. Maybe have a trans specialist confirm.

Hi,
To access the filter, you have to pull the transmission pan. You could try flushing the fluid to see if that helps with the shifting. IS the fluid a nice red color? IPD has a kit that hooks right onto the cooler output line at the radiator. The total process takes about 20 minutes. I used M1 Synthetic ATF in my 84 760 turbo and it shifts pretty smoothly. I would also recommend that you replace the o/d solenoid with a good one.
