fuse block 700 1998

I just got a 98 740 wagon, runs, I want to test compression b4 i get into all the other repairs needed. This car has no plastic cover fro the fuse block. I'm wondering which one is the fuel pump(s) fuse. I'll get a manual when I get to the parts store.

If you use the remote-starting test lead near the strut-tower (The pink-lead near the Left-side strut-tower on my 85 740), you wont need to use the ignition-key to turn the engine, meaning you wont need to disable the fuel-pumps as they are not powered during the test. This also allows you to check compression via a hand-held gauge without a helper.

Unplug the ignition-to-distributor ignition wire. Removing all spark-plugs prior to checking compression helps reduce the load on your starter during testing, leading to higher engine rpms.

You might find more info from my recent compression testing thread.

As ar as I remember, it has a single spade-style female connector with a blue(?) rectangular plastic cover around it. Applying +12v to it will run the starter regardless of the gear-selector - so MAKE SURE it is in PARK before doing this !
