New engine? 200 1989

I was wondering if it is possible to put a 1985 230ft engine in my 89 wagon? or if there are parts that i can add to make my engine turbo?

Not impossible, but the requirements are rather large.

B230FT is found in the 740/760/780/940 cars, and they use the cam-driven distributor. That means a longer head that doesn't fit the 240. Hits the firewall.

Computer control systems differ, and that likely means the color codings on all that wiring is different. 1985 harness to be replaced by...what? Also, some sensors would differ.

Adding a turbo to a B230FT is redundant, it already has one. B-230-F-T.

It has been done. I think it's Dave Shan who has the work involved on his web site.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

I disagree with mcduck, my haynes manual, specific for 240, lists a year of b230ft. It actually has the highest rated horsepower figures for 240's available in the US. I believe it's an 88 model year. But at any rate the resource you need is turbobricks[dot]com. That forum is for turbo volvo's and indeed, they have many articles on adding turbo heads to the b230 as well as straight up engine swaps.
