85 245 Doesn't Like 30 Degree Temperatures 200

My 85 245 had a rough time this morning with the 30 degree temperatures. It started and idled fine but there was a lack of power and it surged or felt like it was misfiring on acceleration. The problem got a little better after about 15 miles. No problem at all on the way home with a 55 degree temperature. Thanks Dan

"felt like it was misfiring "

I've been having this problem all winter. And by misfire, I mean really buck- almost like it's running out of gas. Letting the car warm up all the way helps, but if it is really cold (20s) it still misses when driving. I've run every gas treatment I can think of, but to no avail.

I'm taking her into the shop on Wednesday and will post with what I find out.

I've been having the same problem with my 92 240. I've been warming it up for almost an hour before driving and have added fuel line a.f. as well, which didn't help at all... Husband refuses to drive it anymore...suits me just fine.

Water in the fuel is a likelihood. See my post to "Roger."

hi dan, i dont think one day a year in the 30s is a problem to troubleshoot in my opinion.

Maybe not but something is not working like it should. Besides the rest of the BB needs to know we suffer with winter too! Dan

You call that 'winter'? :-) 200

re; "...Besides the rest of the BB needs to know we suffer with winter too!..."

Excuse me :-) You call 30 deg. F "winter"?

I'm merely in N.J., which is only a "middle" Atlantic state, and when I got up this morning, my little "Brookstone" dashboard outside temperature gauge showed -1 deg F (that's in F, not C, btw). And I can't imagine what my fellow northeast people faced up in the real New England. Admittedly it's not usually like this here in winter (temps are well below "normal"), but that's the way it is lately.

BTW, my car did start okay (cranking was a little slow), however, and idled okay after a few seconds -- I drove it away slowly after idling a couple of minutes. But I do use a good synthetic oil, and synthetic transmission fluid, which I am sure helps in many ways this winter.

Feel lucky to have your version of "winter" -- ha, ha.
