Strange 'crunching' noise? 200 1992

A loud "crunching" noise is coming from the front driver's side, (92 244) around the wheel area, when I go over speed bumps or hit pot holes. The noise seems to be worse when it's colder outside. Any idea what it might be? Is it something I can try to fix myself?

is it crunching or really hard creaking. my front end sounded like hell till i lubed up my swaybar bushings quiet as hell now.

little note. i used a silicone based lube meant for humping. worked like a charm. it's called eros, i've used it for all kinds of automotive lubing.

First check to make sure tire isn't rubbing on the top of the inner fender. Also look for torn/loose strut tower bushing at the top.
