Bosch Fog lights worth installing? Pulled out of Yard. 200

I came across an '88 240 in the junk yard that had two bosch fog lights installed on it and the green fog light switch on the console, so I pulled them off. Someone had already cut the wiring harness on the lights so if I connect them I will have to figure out the wiring.
Both of the lights have good glass lenses but one of the reflectors is totally shot. Are these good enough fog lights to spend the time installing? I would want to use them while driving in snowstorms that are blinding to drive in with just the headlights.
I didn't realize that I could get a set of new Bosch fog lights for under $40.00 when I pulled these off the junked car. It looks like I can also get a replacement reflector and lense for around $15.00. I am wondering if i just shouldn't buy the whole set of new ones and then if one of the lenses breaks I will have two spares.
But is it worth taking the time to install these? Is the light quality going to make a differance?
And if so do I drill mounting holes on the lower front to mount these?
I really aprreciate any feed back.

I was wondering where you can buy that kit shown and if it will work on the 740 under the bumper. Also how would you go about wiring this all up?

To wire it up go to an auto store and buy a fog light/ accesory wiring kit for $5-$10 that comes with everything including a wiring diagram.

Smitty makes good points. You will definitely notice a difference if you get them aimed and wired properly. Don't forget that they are supposed to be aimed very low to gain the effect of going below snow, fog, etc. Daniel Stern's page is great on this stuff. I have had hella 450 foglights on my 240 (mounted below the bumper) for about 8 months now, and have broken two of them already. Replacements are cheap at $15 each, but I go to too many rallies and they always hit things first. Just to warn you. I'd drill a couple holes in the bottom of the bumper and get a relay kit and wire them in. In hard rain, fog, deep snow, or for cornering lights in drivex rallies, fogs are really nice lights. Good luck on them.

Can I use the relay that is currently on my car and that controls the rear fog lights? At least for now?
Are the Hella 450's a way better quality? It looks like they cost about the same.

No, don't use the relay that's already there. Relays cost like $4 at any automotive store. Some places will even have kits with all the wires. Its not very hard to do. Having seen the hella 450's and Bosch lights on different cars, I wouldn't say there is a big downgrade to the bosch's. Bosch makes really good lights. If I had a good deal on Bosch lights, I'd go for them. One plus is if you get a fog light "kit", they come with relay and wiring. Especially if you have the big plastic lights, the light foglights will put out will be a welcomed bonus.

IMHO the Bosch fog lights are better than Wal-Mart quality but definitely a step down from Hella, Cibie and PIAA. But you own 'em now, and any extra light you can throw in front of a 240 with the large 'aero' headlights is worth the effort.

Fog lights need to be mounted below the bumper, and make sure you wire them through a relay. Visit Daniel Stern's website for useful info, and possibly also the Susquehanna Motorsports site.
