Old ( --->1980) Wiper Arm Removal?? Is there a trick to it??

Hi, all.
I hope this is not too much of a re-post. My specific question is: How does the wiper arm come off of a 1980 GT (242)? I got a junkyard replacement arm from a relatively new 240, and it simply had a nut that came off, and the arm removed easily. It does not seem the same with my 1980. There does NOT seem to be a dust cover over a nut. Is there some hidden "release thingy"? (I am talking about the ARM, not just the blade) Has anyone dealt with this on a pre-'81? Thank you!

There are a couple different types. Maybe the one you got has a spindle. If so, there is a spring clip down very close to the shaft, that can be released with a flathead screwdriver.

Old ( --->1980) Wiper Arm Removal?? Is there a trick to it?? YES!! FOUND IT!!

Thank you for your reply. Initially I did not see anything. I even called IPd and talked to someone who looked at microfilm, and told me that the arms were simply force-pressed on to the spindles. I did not want to risk pulling hard on the arm and ruining the wiper bushing, and was in no rush to take apart the dashboard (as was his other suggestion). While at a well-lit gas station this evening, I took another close look, and saw a tiny wire clip. After some fiddling with it, I was able to release the wiper arm. Things are getting better.....Again thank you..
