740 DASH SPEAKERS... 3 1/2" OR 4"?? Anyone know real quick? 700

I got the cd player installed yesterday, gotta change those speakers... I've found different sources saying that the dash speakers are 3.5" and crutchfield says they're 4". I'm working so i cant measure them today, anyone know off the top of their head? What kinds have you installed in your cars?

Neither. The dash speakers are built into the plate. Best bet is rewire and mount 5-1/4" in the front doors.

As I've since discovered, the door speakers were dealer installed upgrade items, hence the inconsistency in some of those wirings.

Ah... So that would be why Crutchfield sends adapter plates with their 4" speakers. I really like the dash mounted speakers, i might have to look into changing them. Door speakers sound like a good idea too... maybe both? Thanks for the response.

If you get component speakers, you can put the mid-range woofer in the door and the tweeter in the dash. This is what I did on my 94 940T.
