700 high speed shift 700

I'm out exercising my turbo and stretching the legs on my 745T. I'm at 110 mph and the tach is at 6000. My problem is the car won't upshift into the overdrive gear. I keep accelerating past the redline but it won't go into overdrive unless I release up on the pedal. As soon as I punch it again the car shifts back again into 3rd. Shouldn't there be a sensor or switch that automatically pushes it into the next gear at redline?

I need the speed.
Randy

It's the trans kickdown function that's getting in your way. When you put your foot down you'll notice you hit a resistance spot just before the floor. That's where the kickdown cable stops lifting the upshift pawl in the trans and lifts the downshift mechanism (don't know if I got that precisely right). If you stop at this point you won't kick down. Unfortunately the throttle won't quite be open all the way, but darn close. Playing with downshift cable adjustment to overcone this will just give you grief for normal shifting. If you need better performance then you'll want a manual trans.

Thanks. I know I could get 120 on the dial but no matter how much I baby it about 115 is all.
