I have a 1983 240 turbo that I bought not running. I have got it running after jumping the pins on the fuel pump relay plug under the dash. I put a new relay in it and it wont start. I don't understand why jumping it would work where as a new fuel pump relay would not. Thanks and happy bricking.

Jumping the relay puts power directly to the fuel pumps terminal 30 red wire, to terminal 87 yellow/red tracer wire . If the relay ground #31 black or the ignition RPM wire #31b white/red tracer or the Key "on" #15 red /black tracer
aren't doing their respective duties no amount of new relays will ever allow you to start your brick !

You are assuming that you replacement relay is working properly. I've heard of brand new relays being bad.

Your best bet is to crack open the relay and resolder the different sections on the inside.

Either that or test the relay in another car if you can. If it does work in another car, I would guess that perhaps the connections are dirty or something.
