rear window defrost wiring 200

OK, I have an 86' 240 wagon and the rear window defrost doesn't work. The switch comes on and lights up. I even have 12 volts at the terminal on the drivers side of the rear window. However, the terminal on the passenger side of the rear window has a wire hanging off of it with a round terminal at the end of it.......WHERE does this wire go. I cannot find any place to hook this up to. At one time I grounded it to a bolt, but that did nothing. The terminal itself has 12 volts to it when the switch is on. The service manual doesn't show any detail for this. I am very confused. Thanks for any help!!!!

Drivers side =12 volts imput Pass. side = ground
Cold climates check to see if inside of r glass has been scraped (open circuit)

As mentioned, the passenger side just needs to be grounded. If you have 12 volts there, it means that at least one of the wires in the grid is still good, but all of the others may be broken. You may be able to spot the gaps by careful examination. There is a paint-on material you can get at any autoparts store to bridge the gaps.
