1988 245DL - Rear window leak (wagon) 200 1988

With all the soggy weather lately, I discovered as I was backing up my driveway the other day that my weatherstripping on the rear window of my wagon is leaking. As I was backing up the driveway, I watched the water actually drip out of one of the defrost wires on the bottom of the window - ouch!

What I really need to know is - How do I repair this? Is silicone a good idea? should it go underneath the existing weatherstripping or on top? If under, how do I get the existing weatherstripping off without destrying it?

Thanks in advance!
