740 versus 940

I'm thinking of a 740 wagon or a 940 wagon. What's the difference between the two? Styling seems similar, engine is the same as I understand it. Is there any advantage to getting a 940 - in ride or serviceabilty, or are they about the same.

Dean,

When it comes to later model wagons(1990-) the 740/940 are basically the same. Having a 87 745 and a 95 944T I can say I very much like both and though there are more diffences between those years and body styles, they are very,very similar in design, performance, ease of repair, etc. If you know your way around one you pretty much know them all.

The 940 is basically a newer version of the 740. Improved in some areas. Just my IMO - but I think a 940 drives better and looks better than a 740. Drive both and decide for yourself.
