Removing the Instrument Panel 200 1977

The instrument panel of my Volvo 262 from 12/1977 is fixed with 2 screws at the bottom/front side and also with 2 spring-clips on the outer corners of the top edges "which must be freed..."says the Haynes Owners Workshop Manual.
But how? Not a word. I'hve tried but couldn't reach them. Is there anyone who can explane, how I should remove the instrument panel of this 262, because I have to repair my odometer. Thank you in advance and kind regards. Highstreets

I have always undid the two lower screws, then reach up and behind (after removing the "felt" underdash panel) and put some pressure from behind the cluster (wiggling the cluster helps).

Once it comes out a couple inches - there are 3 items to disconnect on the backside of the instrument cluster - speedo cable, and two or 3 electrical connectors (guages, instrument lights, etc.).

Good Luck

If it's like the early 240 (speedometer on the left, tach or blank panel in the center), from under the dash push the panel up and out sort of at the same time. I recall pushing up with one hand and sort of banging the panel, but not too hard, with the heel of my other hand. You want to swing the bottom of the cluster out. At some point the clips will release.
