Correct Oil pressure for B21FT ---Turbo

Hey all, some of you here have driven and romped on these cars for year. Nomrally I have been a naturally aspirated chick. what would you consider the right oil pressure for this car, wityh the engine super healthy? I have always gotten 4-5 bars for teh B230 and B23 when cold, and maybe 3.5-4 when hot on the highway. The Turbo appears noticably lower, though the owners book always says that hot it can run 1.5 bars, and into the red in the summer in hot places. This is about what it does at idle, nbut it enver really seems tog et more traction cold. It runs about 3.5 Bars cold, and then never goes above that running, say at 2200 RPM, when hot.

So, in my view, it is consistantly running about 14lbs lighter than the B230 at all times, maybe even a bit more when hot.

Sure, I can an exact oil test, but if you guiys know, it will give me a general feel.

It sure doesn't burn any oil.

Are you using the gauge on the dash or are you actually checking the pressure with a gauge screwed into the block at the sender? Also what weight oil do you use and how many miles are on the engine? Using 10w30w mine used to run about 3.8 on the highway and dropped to about 1.0 bar or so at idle, depending on ambient temp. As it got older the pressure one day dropped considerably and I found that the seals that sealed the oil pump pick-up tube had gotten brittle and one had actually split.I changed the seals and she was back to normal.

The car has 180k, and I am just going on the 5 bar guage. Yes, I know how to run an oil pressure check for a more accurate reading, but the weather has been chilly, and it really is tight down there where the guage goes in. Its a pain, enough to majke we want to dump the car instead of one of the others.

Its running 10-40 right now. And yeah, its between 3-4 so, about 3.5 warmed up, on the highway, and yeah, it will drop dwon to about 1 bar when the car is idling and the temp outside avg.It might drop into the red when the ac is on its 10-0 degrees F.

The oil seals and punp are what I am thinking about, since I really DON'T see any sign to indicate bruning oil. Literally. But its really a pain in the but to replace those oil pumps, and set those seals, so I don't ever want to do it again.
