Hi all,

I searched the forum to find out how to clean the plastic headlights. I found 2 ways: one using oven cleaner and another using rubbing compound. Has anyone used either of those ways and did they have a lasting result? Or are there some better ways that you would recommend?

    Last year when my 1993 960 was hit by a 1976 Scout International, the right headlight had to be replaced. Of course the new one was brand new and it made the old one look pretty ridiculous.

    I used Mother's Mag & Aluminum Wheel Polish with great results.

    P.S. The Scout broke its axle, so for those keeping score at home

    I would not try anything but a product made for plastics. I recommend either NOVUS, try Novus #2 to remove scraches then #1 for cleaning and polishing. PLEXUS works geat if the plastic is in pretty good shape. I use both products on aircraft windows.

    I have used plastic cleaner and polish (Blue Coral brand I believe). Both worked pretty well. I have also heard but have not tried using a high quality chrome polish like Simichrome or Autosol works very well. I probably would have had better results if I had a buffing wheel. I was polishing by hand and with the amount of hazing my headlights had/have you just get tired of polishing.

    Try Flitz on a small spot.
