Warning chime on...here is the details 900

As I was heading out of town on holiday break my chime started ringing without any resolve and I need help now that I am back. Here are the details:
1. Chime started about 15 minutes after we were going down the road
2. Interior lights would not work
3. Fuse was bad on #5: Interior lights-duh
4. Replaced fuse and it blew immediately
5. Chime comes on immediately as the key is inserted in the switch. No interior lights come on at all.

What I know:
1. I need rear brakes soon, could this be a warning for it without signaling a lamp on the dash?
2. The center main light does not work, however the map lights work properly. (at least they did before the fuse continutiously blew.)
3. The drivers side door switch for the interior lights has a short in it.

Please any input would br greatly appreciated!
Heath

Wow! you hit the nail on the head! 900

Bill, Thanks a service bill! I went out and pulled the center lamp out of the ceiling and whalla, a metal holddown snap broke off a plastic housing allowing it to arch against the bulb.
It worked out great though, b/c we ended up taking our subaru on the trip and needed the 4WD. God is watching out for us even in the small situations.
Thanks again Bill for your quick response and very useful information.
    Heath

The chime is sounding because the fuse is blown. You need to find the short to corect the problem. Pull the dome light assembly down and inspect the wiring around the grounding buss. Also check the wire going into the hood for the hood light. I think it is on the same fuse.
