Clearcoat question?? 700

A question for some of you painting "veterans" out there:

I spray painted an area on the front driver's side quarter panel of my 90 760T (about the size of a baseball glove)that had some flaking paint (appareently from some body work and repainting prior to my ownership.

The paint was the infamous metallic beige #400 with clearcoat. My questions are:

1) How many coats of each (color coat and clear)

2) What is the best method of final blending the new clearcoat with the old?

(IE: Polishing compound, polish, etc., etc.,

MANY thanks in advance.

Clearcoat question?? 700

I've gotten good results with 2 coats of base and four of clear. There is a reducer that allows edge melting of exiting clear coat for blending. Blendsolv or some such name. This type of product can be found at any auto paint supply store. Make sure to prep the repair area properly, PrepAll degreaser is a must. Hope this helps.
