Rear Hatch Sruts 900 1995

I need to replace the struts for the rear hatch on our 95 940 wagon. FCP Groton sells a pair for $26 but they just say made in Germany. I remember a while back that people had bad experiences with some of these struts - I just can't remember which ones weren't working well. Has anybody had good experiences with these, or is there a better alternative?

Dear John,

Good a.m. and may this find you well. I believe I posted about hatch struts (gas springs) with chrome-plated shafts, supplied by FCP Groton. These did not work, as soon as I installed them. FCP Groton, ever-attentive to quality, shipped me gas springs with black-finish shafts. These worked.

They were $13 each, or $26 for a set of two struts. If you specify clearly, that you want struts with black-finish shafts, you should be fine.

With every warm, best wish for a Good, Healthy New Year, I remain,

Yours faithfully,

spook

I had the exact same exprience with the silver ones vs the black ones. The black ones have lasted a few years now with no problems.

I bought the same "made in Germany" struts from a different Ebay seller, for my 95 940 wagon rear hatch. They were easy to replace, and still work well after about 4 months. The originals struts were SHOT! These replacements may not be the exact same quality, but comparing the price, I can replace them every 3 years and still be ahead :)

good luck

I just checked IPD and they have them for $60 per pair, but no further description on manufacturer.
