84 245Ti... 230K miles...

lately it wont start well after its been driven; dies unless I pump gas pedal.

something simple? cold start injector, fuel filter? or something that needs more trouble shooting?

Easy, as I learned from our NickVJR, it is the accumulator diaphragm leaking. Look at the cannister next to the fuel pump (the accumulator). Signs of gas dribbled out of the rear screw hole is the key. Swap in another accumulator. I had several on hand and a clean one completely cured the only problem I had left on the 242Ti, the difficult hot start. Thanks Julio M.

hi there. i have a hot start situation as well on my 85 240 turbo. checked the accumulator screw and no gas came out. does this rule out the part in question. thanks. running out of things to check. thanks

No gas stain, I meant. I never saw a drip either but I had accumulator/pump assemblies and swapped to cure the hot hard re-start. But I would not go buy one if yours is dry and clean, on my experience if I were you. Can you try a salvage yard?

This is good info, thank you

- what year(s) accumulators will work should i find a good one at salvage yard
- impulse relay? hmmm... dont know what/where that is. what do I look for?
