Brickboard

Dear all,

I hope I have reached all of you that was worth the while.

A few leaving comments:

- I tried to get in contact with Jarrod in regards of sponsorship of the Brickboard, 'course it's a brilliant concept. We have the same kind in both Denmark and Sweden, where activity is very much similar and "everyday".
Well, NEVER had a response from Jarrod..

- I have never meet so much hostility on a site where subject was the car we all love..

- Indeed I have meet some nice people, that I'll probably see in my inbox from time to time, with delight!

- If a lot of you are driving in traffic with same attitude as you behave in here, I'm sure glad we are far, far from each other..

- Maybe you live in a country which is at war - but the World is so much bigger than that - try let other people in..

    A couple of suggestions -

Post your shop in the shops forum.

Follow up on sponsorship - Jarod is changing Brickboard and sponsors may be a beneficial thing to add to the board.

As for nasty posts - I have never seen them in the forums such as this one.

The information provided by this board has helped a vast number of Volvo owners and it is up to us to keep it going.

If you do not like a forum - or anything on the internet, work to change it or stay away from it.

I have a suggestion for the Brickboard...

Code the date displayed in a post so it stands out when the post is aged beyond the reasonable time a writer might read a response. Something like this perhaps:

      Wed Mar 4 11:27 CST 2004

It might prevent folks from expending the effort to provide thoughtful suggestions to folks who posted things 16 years ago.

Yes it would be good to see what year, as well as the day and date and month. I was looking at the date the posts, trying to get a sense of what was happening. I wasn't sure what war anyone was talking about, wondering about Russian/Putin invasion of Ukraine.
When I called saying we have only been bombed twice, a couple of seconds 9/11. I looked at a few more posts and still didn't know what was going on.
So your suggestion of the year e.g. 2004 in red is a very good idea. Seems like a simple and good change in format.

        Good morning Art!

I'm with you on this, however I think there's a couple other things at play.

One, the post that brought this one to the top of the list is off topic. Makes me think this one got started by a glitch in the Brickboard matrix.

Second, I see a couple links above every message; a box with "INDEX FOR 3/2020(CURRENT)" and another with "INDEX FOR ". Changes every time. Good for a trip down memory lane but trbl if one hits it by mistake when looking for the newest posts.

        Have a great day!

I would have liked to reply via Email, but you didn't leave an address. I have not encountered any political "stress" on the Brickboard, nor do I ever wish to do so.
For the second time in history we have been bombed. This was a great shock to all of us, and some of our esteemed leaders have the diplomatic finess of a rat. Most of the Americans have never been to a foreign country, the USA is 5,000 Km wide and 3,000 Km from Canada to Mexico. A lot of room for a lot of differing opinions.
Those of us on the Brickboard are here for the love of the Marque. We would like to get European lights and tuning equipment, eventhough we cannot go faster than 120Km/hr we like to dream as if we are driving F1 cars.

    Soren -

Somewhere on this site is an instruction to the end that posts regarding Brickboard operations are to be posted in OPINIONS. But, I don't know where it is!

Jarrod will more likely to see it there. I suspect that his time is quite tight, as what you wish to propose seems interesting and he would likely be interested.

Seeing opinions from a non-US point is always interesting, although there is always a risk in translating into English and of ruffling some of our more sensitive feathers. Don't give up.

For me, I live in a suburb of Houston, Texas. The population of the metropolitan area is over 4 million. When I visit another Brickster to do a joint Junkyard Jaunt, it is a 30 mile drive (40 minutes on the toll road motorway). This is to give to you an idea of where I am. Naturally I have no idea of your circumstance. It might be of interest to many to transfer this conversation to OPINIOINS.

    Happy Bricking,

    Bob

        Dont quite understand what you are referring to about the axles but;

1.Shocks have nothing to to with the way a car sits only the dampening.
        2. It is doubtful that anyones replacement springs are the same quality of the factory springs. ( And yours are probably inferior Chinese low bidder junk )
        3. It will cost you nothing but time to swap your new springs side to side. That might change the ride height, and answer the lean question.

PS I dont mean to be harsh, only my honest opinion from experience.

Shocks were all replaced due to.high mileage.....Only mentioned replacing to show what's been done. I know shock are different than springs. But when I changed out all the shocks, I did find a dead shock at the front and rear. The reason I changed all the springs.

Swapping spring sides might work. IPD heady duty springs. I checked the standing height and compression of the new spring before installing them. I guess the swap side to side might work. Odd problem!

Well it wont cost anything to swap.
In this modern age where most parts come from the cheapest foreign source, I am dubious about the quality and function of every new part I buy.

Jarrod has been in a pretty tight situation both at work and at home
lately. I am sure that he is not snubbing you. I have communicated with
him by e-mail within the past few days and it helped me a lot to understand
where he is coming from. I suggest you give sponsorship another try.
Likewise from where you are it is a lot harder to understand how and why
we are at war. There are many distorted pictures of the US floating
around and a lot of people with very strong feelings on both sides of
the issues. We are not being helped a lot by the news media which likes
to make things as sensational as possible to increase circulation, also.
For those who say that this belongs in the Opinions forum, maybe so but
I wanted to make sure that Soren sees it. Please bear with me.

    Opinion forum

    Soren,

If you post comments or critique of the United States or Ebay on the opinions forum, you will probably get a more productive dialouge or debate. There are some knee-jerk reactions over there too, but also many thoughtful contributors of vairous political and cultural philosophies. The RWD forum is mostly about the function and culture of driving.

    Best regards,
    pu
