v6 coolant leak 700 1990

I run a 1989 760 gle here in the uk.Ive just noticed a slight coolant leak in the v valley.
It is not a torrent more a weep. The leak isnt from between the head and block,it is from what Seems to be the bottom of a head bolt hole,a non blind one.
Looking from the front the leak is on the left side near the front.
Is this a common problem on the prv-v6.Somebody has suggested taking out that particular bolt out and using sealent to stop the leak/weep,dont like the idea of taking just one bolt out.
I cant detect any signs of cylinder leakage into the coolant system.
If it does come to a head off situation ,what is the best method to avoid diturbing the liner seals when removing the heads...

Sounds like you might have a freeze (core) plug leaking. Yes if that is the case you have to remove the head. You are going to play with the devil if you try to remove the head without special tools and having done it before. Take it from a 25 year Volvo tech, leave the "valley of doom" to a pro.

I went to local volvo dealer and had a word with one of the mechanics there, who did go slightly pale when v6 came up!
But Im an adventurous soul.I do have the fall back of a 2.3 4 cylinder but ive sort of got hooked on the v6s noise and smoothness.
Im willing to have a go.Disturbing the liner seals, and having the correct tool to support the drive sprocket and chains seems to be the two main rubs.I can get any tool fabricated so I dont have to go to volvo for the official tool for the chains.

Try the "Alumaseal" first, if you can't get that in the UK i will be happy to send you a tube. I am assuming that you read the other threads with similar issues, all I can really say is I would much rather cure the leak by pouring a $1 tube of sealant into the cooling system rather than tearing into the motor and possibly causing others. I was able to cure a leak on one of my PRV-6 cars that way, and it lasted for the whole 9 years I owned that car. Choose your battles carefully!

taht would be great if you could send me some.
Certainly no one here in the uk stocks it.
Certainly taking on the v6 wet liners is not a light undertaking. How would you want paying.Much appreciated
Ian

Follow my email link, and send me your postal address where i can send the very small package to. You can pay me by simply trying this first before tearing anything apart, and reporting the results here for the good of all. No, I am not affiliated with the people that make or sell this stuff nor do I own any stock in the company... just trying to provide a cost and labor effective solution to your problem. So far I have only met ONE PERSON who could tear apart a V6 and get it put back together again properly, a retiree from a local dealership who taught me most all of what i know about PRV's.
