turbo engine rebuild + conversion??

It's been a pipe dream of mine and my fathers to rebuild a turbo engine for a transplant into my '85 245gl (straight body, great interior, ipd/b&g suspension) - the idea is to build the engine at his shop.... funded by me....

this is my fourth Vwagon and I'd really like to see 200+hp -

I'm not sure where to start...

is this type of project do-able for under $3k?

what series motor should I be searching for?

any advice?

- b&g sport springs :(
- ipd 25mm anti-sway bars (front+rear) :) ++
- ipd strut tower brace :) +
- ipd adjustable torque rods (+ poly bushings) :) +++
- Monroe Sensatrac shocks/struts :(

- ipd exhuast :/

    Under 3K? You may be able to do it for that.A lot depends on how much you pay for the engine,inetrcooler,charge air pipes and hoses,oil cooler ect.You need a B230ft engine. A good friend of mine did this on a 1990 245 and it came out great.Most of the parts he got off an old 88 745.As I recall just about everything bolted up real easily and I was hard pressed to tell it was not a factory install.
