Front springs expanded Scan tech quality?? 700

The front springs on my 87 740 seem to have expanded which causes the front end to be higher than normal. Does anyone know how the Scan Tech springs compare to the original Volvo ones? Is the quality and ride similar?

I've put Scan Tech front springs (rears also) on two of my bricks. I've been very happy with them. Even if the ride height weren't an issue, I think you would still be pleased with the way the new springs will tighten up the front of the car.

Likely your rears have contracted, rather than the fronts expanded.

' Likely your rears have contracted, rather than the fronts expanded.'

You would think so, but with Volvos this is not true... I heated my front springs for 2" of drop before my ride height got back to spec. Expect your old springs not ot fit in the box the new ones came in.

Replacement is pretty easy as far as struts go.

Do just the fronts have a problem expanding or should I do the rears also? If I do rear do you suggest putting in sedan springs or the heavier wagon springs?

do the front, and the back will come up a hair. I would do the front, and then park next to a bunch of 700s, and see how it compares. I haven't heard of the lengthening being a problem in the back. I've had three sets of springs in the back of my car, and KYB white gas-a-just shocks made more difference than any of the springs...

I alwyas haul 300+ pounds, so I ended up adding airbags in my springs. I think I have an extra set of near new progressive sedan coils if you need them. airbags + progressive coils = way too progressive.

Hey Greasel. Where did you get the air bags? How much were they? I was considering a set for my wagon. I had a set of them on a Toyota van I owned 10 years ago -- they worked great. Did you hook them both up to one air line? I didn't on my van because it seemed as though the air bags would be fighting against the anti-sway bar.

they were sold to me as front spring inserts for a 70 Chevy Camper Special. I fill each bag directly untill I fab an onboard air controler. I think Summit racing sells them for under $70 a pair. You then have to make a bottom plate that sits between the control arm and bag.
